Things to do before your move
It is never too early to start sorting for your move. Start with your closets, cupboards, kitchen, attics and garage(s).
Start thinking about items you want to take to your new home.
This is the time to begin distributing things to family members and friends. Keep those mementos that mean the most to you.
Get rid of anything that is not fixable. Donate clothes and other items that are just taking up space.
Begin to use up canned and frozen foods.
Have draperies, rugs, and other linens cleaned before the move.
Set a move date.
Develop a customized floor plan with your move manager.
Arrange to transfer phone, cable, newspaper, address and other utilities. (Your Senior Move Manager can handle all of these things for you!)
Get a moving estimate and decide on a moving company.
Remember, the more items you discard before the move the less your moving bill will be.
Organize and update all medications. Go through medicine chests and throw out anything that is expired or no longer necessary.
Arrange for overnight accommodations if necessary.
Let your Move Manager assist you with sorting and packing.
Take a deep breath and relax…..have a nice lunch with family or friends.
